Jan. 31-Feb. 3
Oops! I forgot to send homework home today (Tuesday). Spelling will need to be completed and turned in on Friday so that we can still take our spelling test, but the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory page can be turned in on Monday, February 6. Sorry about that!
Every day: Read for 20 minutes and mark it on your reading log.
Tuesday: Fill out the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory page with your own candy bar design.
Wednesday: Write your spelling words in complete sentences on a lined piece of paper. Remember to underline your spelling words, and put a capital at the beginning of the sentence and a period, question mark or exclamation point at the end.
Thursday: Write your spelling words on a lined piece of paper three times each.
You may download your spelling here:
Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is coming up! Next week I will send home a list of names of students in our class. Please let me know if you do not want your child to participate in our party.
Ancestry project update
We have been working hard on our ancestry projects and rough drafts are due on Tuesday. Most of the students have finished or are very close to finishing their rough drafts. Next week we will begin the editing and revising process. Final drafts will be due Monday, February 6. If your child chooses to type the final draft, that will need to be done at home. Otherwise, final drafts can be written in pen on regular lined paper.
Missing assignment reports
Missing assignment reports are going home today. Please look it over, sign it and have your student return it on Tuesday for 5 bonus bucks!
District and state testing
We finished up our district assessments this week. The students did a great job of being focused and working hard. Our next round of testing will be the last two weeks of February when we begin state testing. The district tests have been great for practicing good test-taking strategies such as eliminating two answers and reading the questions before reading the passage. Hopefully, the students will feel more confident with the state test, now that they have the district test under their belts!
